El accidente ocurri\u00f3 durante la octava etapa de la <strong>Volta a Portugal 2026<\/strong>, en un recorrido de 167 kil\u00f3metros entre Melga\u00e7o y Fafe.<\/p>\n<h3>Detalles del accidente<\/h3>\n<p>Seg\u00fan informes de la televisi\u00f3n p\u00fablica portuguesa <strong>RTP<\/strong>, Tarling fue atropellado por un veh\u00edculo que circulaba en sentido contrario al de la carrera. El incidente se produjo aproximadamente a 20 kil\u00f3metros de la meta en Fafe. A pesar de recibir asistencia m\u00e9dica en el lugar, no se pudo salvar su vida.<\/p>\n<p>La organizaci\u00f3n del evento, junto con la <strong>Federaci\u00f3n Portuguesa de Ciclismo<\/strong>, decidi\u00f3 neutralizar la etapa tras el accidente, cancelando tambi\u00e9n las ceremonias de podio programadas para ese d\u00eda. En un comunicado, expresaron: \u00abEn este momento de profundo dolor, los organizadores de la Volta a Portugal y la Federaci\u00f3n Portuguesa de Ciclismo expresan sus m\u00e1s sentidas condolencias a la familia de Finlay Tarling, a sus compa\u00f1eros, al NSN Development Team y a todos sus amigos y seres queridos\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h3>Una prometedora carrera truncada<\/h3>\n<p>Tarling, originario de <strong>Ffos-y-ffin<\/strong>, Gales, estaba comenzando a destacar en el ciclismo profesional, siguiendo los pasos de su hermano mayor <strong>Josh Tarling<\/strong>, conocido especialista en contrarreloj.
